Welcome to Alika Tia Coton de Tulear!   "Alika Tia" means "Dog Love" in Malagasy, the native language of Madagascar where the Coton de Tulear originated.

We are a small Canadian breeder committed to the health and well-being of this rare breed of dogs for present and future generations.  We are a code of ethics breeder and breed only from sound, healthy dogs, who meet the conformation standard. 

Through careful selection and matching of our puppies with their new families, we are creating an "Alika Tia Family".  We want to develop a friendship with our puppy-parents.  As an owner of one of our puppies, you are guaranteed to have our continuing support throughout the life of your dog and hopefully beyond too! 

Alika Tia is a Registered Kennel with the CFC and CKC.

Conformation

Our dogs are shown in the conformation rings of the Canadian Kennel Club, Canine Federation of Canada, United Kennel Club, All Breed International Dog Shows, FCI, and American Kennel Club.  You will see their awards and titles on the upcoming pages of "Our Boys" and "Our Girls".

Health and Temperament

We health test our dogs for before breeding.  This includes at a minimum CERF eye exams, cardiac, patella, hips, elbows, and DNA testing for genetic disorders such as BNAT, CMR2, DM, PH, PRA, IVDD, and VWD1.

Dogs Being Dogs

All of our dogs are first and foremost beloved family pets.  They run, romp, and play both indoors and out.  They live where we live - all over the house, on the couch, and in the yard.  They are crate trained and sleep in their kennel at night (ummm, mostly....) or for safety while we are away.  They travel in the RV with us and go visiting in public where ever we can take them.

We are located in Nova Scotia, Canada and frequently fly our puppies to their new homes.  We have puppies in the USA, NL, PEI, NS, BC, AB, and many in Ontario.  We work with the new family for transportation of the puppy.  We occassionally ship puppies via cargo.  Families are welcome to come to pick up their puppy or we will fly the puppy to them.
